Federal Student Loan Updates: A Guide for Legal Services Employees & Their Clients
Do you have federal student loans for yourself or your children? Do you work with clients who have student loan debt? There have been a number of changes to federal student loans in recent months and additional changes are expected in 2026. Come to our information session for employees of LSNYC and other legal services organizations to learn more about those changes and how they impact federal student loan borrowers. We will be discussing the future of the SAVE repayment program and the SAVE forbearance, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), options for defaulted loans (and how to tell if a loan is in default), and how the July 2025 federal budget reconciliation law is changing the federal student loan landscape in 2026.
This program is designed for nonprofit staff who have federal student loans themselves and/or who work with clients who have federal student loans.
