Legal Services Mapmaking: A Hands-on Training in Making the Most of ArcGIS

This hands-on session will focus on how to create data-rich maps that will support advocacy and outreach efforts, enhance funding reports, and visualize LSNYC’s valuable work. Using laptops and cloud-based software, Jay Ackley (LSNYC's Grants and Contracts Management Specialist) will guide us through the process of extracting information from LegalServer, ‘cleaning’ the data, and creating differently formatted maps. Attendees will also learn how to construct maps using external sources of data. Jay will provide individual guidance in this small group session so participants are encouraged to ask questions. Although not a prerequisite for attendance at this training, some familiarity with running reports on LegalServer and manipulating large data sets in Excel will be helpful for participants.
