DVD - Resolving Defaulted Federal Student Loans

No CLE Offered.  This training, led by NEDAP, will provide a comprehensive overview of steps advocates can take to assist low income New Yorkers who have defaulted on federal student loans.  A growing number of low-income New Yorkers are struggling with federal student loan debt they incurred from attending for-profit proprietary and sham trade schools that target low income people, people of color and veterans.  Participants will learn about the federal government's extraordinary collection powers, and how to screen student loan debt cases, identify education law violations, and understand the ins and outs of applying for federal student loan discharges and repayment plans.

Trainers: Herman De Jesus, Susan Shin and Samuel Oakford.

This session was filmed on September 12, 2012.
